Weezer - Rock AM Germany 2005
Here's a blast from the past.
This is from 2005, when Weezer were played on MTV2. I remember catching this when it first premiered on the UK MTV2, it was around the time of Make Believe. Unfortunately this video is missing Buddy Holly which they closed their set with. I remember seeing Buddy Holly with an extended keyboard intro. It was my first time encountering that, which became a tradition for the band up until the memories tour.
I miss this Weezer, the version of the band that played decent sets, gave a shit, no Lady Gaga covers, no trampolines, no Pat on guitar, no Raditude, no cruises, no gimmicks.
Come back old Weezer... come back!
The setlist for this gig is as follows
01. In the Garage
02. Island in the Sun 3:56
03. We are all on Drugs 8:09
04. Beverly Hills 12:34
05. Hash Pipe 16:44

for us to sort out the details! So folks, check it out –"the weezer

your vacations days cause this year the cruise sails on President’s day

The original cruise is said to have great fun and judging by the videos and reports back from it I have no doubt that it was, however I would really like to see Weezer steer clear of these cash in gimmicks. We've had enough. Please just get back to making new music and get some more albums out there while you still have a shred of credibility left to cling onto. Please!

Indonesia Soul - Weezer Webisode
The latest Weezer webisode is up online and is centered around the bands recent trip to Jakarta. Not the most exciting or entertaining videos but hey, it's better than nothing.
I'm guessing we will be getting a few more of these soon enough that will feature footage from their Austrailian tour.

Homely Girl 2.0
Here's a new video for Scott and River's debut single 'Homely Girl'.
In my opinion this is a much better and livelier video for the song. Check it out and enjoy!

Diffuser's Best Weezer Songs
Diffuser has recently compiled a list of their Top Ten favourite Weezer songs.
Their list and their reasoning is as follows:
10. Say It Ain't So
The third single from Weezer's self-titled debut album just missed the Top 50, but it's one of the bands most popular songs. 'Say It Ain't So' builds over four minutes to one of Cuomo's most celebrated guitar solos, which helped shape an entire genre of alt-rock over the next decade. The song's slow-churning riff isn't bad either.
09. Beverly Hills
The first single from the band's fifth album picks an easy target. After all, is there anything more vapid and disposable than celebrity culture? But Cuomo and Weezer deliver it with such enthusiastic glee, you start to think that maybe they're not poking fun at this lifestyle and maybe, just maybe, they're secretly yearning for it. But we know better.
08. Pork and Beans

But Cuomo and Weezer deliver it with such enthusiastic glee, you start to think that maybe they're not poking fun at this lifestyle and maybe, just maybe, they're secretly yearning for it. But we know better.
08. Pork and Beans
The first single from the band's third
self-titled LP (better known as 'The Red Album') takes a swipe at
Weezer's record company, which asked the group for more hits. Whether or
not Cuomo planned it, 'Pork and Beans' turned out to be one of Weezer's
biggest songs, a No. 1 modern-rock hit that also made it to No. 64 on
the pop chart.
07. Island In The Sun
After their second album, 1996's 'Pinkerton,' bombed, it looked like
Weezer would be going the way of Seven Mary Three. Then, out of nowhere,
they returned in 2001 with 'The Green Album,' a solid set of songs
fueled by a pair of terrific singles, 'Hash Pipe' (see No. 5 on our list
of the 10 Best Weezer Songs) and this one, a smooth-sailing pop song
about taking it easy.
06. Memories
The opening track (and first single) from the band's most recent album
features one of Cuomo's biggest hooks. It's also one of Weezer's most
nostalgic cuts, a fond look back at alternative rock's heyday --
"playing Hacky Sack when Audioslave was still Rage," sings Cuomo -- and
simpler times. "I want to be there again," he says, without a trace of
irony or sarcasm. They earned this one.
05. Hash Pipe
Weezer's 2001 comeback (see No. 7 on our list of the 10 Best Weezer
Songs) was spearheaded by this first single, a riff-driven rocker that
became one of the band's biggest modern-rock hits, even though its
lyrics (and title) caused a few problems for more conservative-minded
radio stations across the planet.
04. Undone - The Sweater Song
Weezer's debut single and breakthrough hit set the template for the next
15-plus years: soft, underplayed verses interrupted by chunky,
hook-stuffed choruses. 'Undone -- The Sweater Song' also signaled Cuomo
as one of '90s alt-rock's most influential songwriters, a sharp lyricist
who could make even the most mundane subjects bustle with new energy.
03. My Name Is Jonas
Unlike all of the other tracks on our list of the 10 Best Weezer Songs,
'My Name Is Jonas' wasn't released as a single. Still, the opening cut
on the band's first album is one of their best, and best-loved, songs.
It's also one of the very few Weezer numbers credited to other band
members. But make no mistake: 'My Name Is Jonas' is pure Cuomo.
02. El Schorcho
Following the surprise success of their self-titled debut album in 1994,
Weezer returned two years later with 'Pinkerton,' a complex, and
somewhat perplexing, concept record about rock-star disillusionment as
seen from Cuomo's increasingly fractured mind. The album tanked and was
seen as a failure, sending Cuomo out of the music business for five
years. 'Pinkerton' is now considered Weezer's masterpiece, and 'El
Scorcho,' the LP's lead single, is its loosely played highlight.
01. Buddy Holly
The success of Weezer's big mainstream hit (it climbed to No. 18 on the
pop chart, an all-time high, and No. 2 on modern rock) had as much to do
with the song's killer hook as it did with its hilarious,
groundbreaking video. Directed by Spike Jonze, the video features the
band interacting with vintage clips from the '70s TV show 'Happy Days'
as Cuomo sings one of his most endearing cuts, a love song about a pair
of harmless nerds. Wonder where he found the inspiration?
Agree? Disagree? Drop them a line and let them know!

Homely Girl
Here's the music video for Homely Girl, the debut track from Scott and Rivers - which is the new side project from Rivers and Scott Murphy (Allister). The pair will share lead vocal duties, and have been writing and recording an album of original songs sung in Japanese for release in early 2013.
Enjoy!

Scott and Pat Radio Interview
Scott and Pat are still carrying the Weezer torch for the band as they continue to promote their Austrailian tour. This time they're being interviewed on Triple J radio and it's a good one.
No breaking news or amazing scoops in this interview but the guys seem to be in good form throughout the chat and which nice to hear.

Scott and Pat on Playing Old Material VS New
In a new interview with fasterlouder.com.au Scott and Pat discuss the Weezer Cruise, Game of Thrones and what it's like playing the older tunes as oppossed to touring with new material. It's an interesting read - here's a snippet.
Would you be as satisfied touring your new albums or do you get more satisfaction out of playing old material?
SS: That’s an interesting question.
PW: I don’t think so. As long as the music’s good, I don’t really care. I don’t get sick of playing the old songs. I think people are surprised by that. But it feels good.
Definitely, I think a lot of bands avoid playing their old stuff.
SS: Like R.E.M.! At one point didn’t they say, “We’re not playing anything earlier than Green”. Like, why would you do that?
Sure. Radiohead, have also drawn that line in the sand fairly clearly.
PW: I don’t feel like that. It’s weird. I think ‘cause I grew up with records, maybe.
SS: I’d rather go see a band play for three hours, and cover all their material, to tell you the truth.
Do you think that your fans identify more with your earlier stuff?
SS: It depends on what group of fans. There’s people who are like Green Album-era fanatics.
PW: Or Make Believe people.
SS: There’s Make Believe people all the time. There’s a few Maladroit flag wavers, and some Red Album, you know. There’s different pockets, different groups.
Is there an album that you guys identify the most with, personally?
PW: Probably the Red Album.
SS: Yeah, same.
Really?
PW: Yeah, I felt really involved in that one, and it just sounds good to me.
Is it because you were more involved in the writing process?
PW: Not really. It’s just that we were all thinking you know “together” a lot in the same room – a lot of debating.

The Angel and the One - LIVE!
Holy shit!
It looks like the Australian tour was worth the wait. During the greatest hits section of the show on Pinkerton Night in Melbourne the band perfromed a fan favourite tune from 2008's eponymous Red Album for the first time ever.
The Angel and the One is arguably one the best closing tracks from any Weezer album 'Post Pinkerton' (I hate having to use that term). Judging from the video the track seems to have gone down well. The audience doesn't seem to be as confused and uninterested as they did when the band played Blast Off for the first time in Seattle back in 2011.
I really wish that Rivers would attempt a show full of B-Sides and deep cuts. It's been a real treat the last few years to see Suzanne, Jamie, Blast Off, Put Me Back Togerther and Longtime Sunshine being played at shows. I would love the guys incorporate these songs into more shows instead of Lady Gaga covers and Hash Pipe.
Without further adieu here's the song.
Hope you all enjoy watching it as much I did.
